LIFE-SAVING DEFIBRILLATOR INSTALLED IN NAME OF LOCAL HERO
Groundwater Lift Trucks were one of the key members of a small group of companies in Stonehaven and Aberdeen who donated towards the installation of a defibrillator on Broomhill Road, Spurryhillock Industrial Estate. This defibrillator is located on the exterior of our showroom and is available for public use.
This project was inspired by local first responder, Campbell McLuckie when recognizing the lack of defibrillators in the area after an employee of a local business suffered a heart attack, and another experiencing a stroke. Ian Thomson from Kincardine Manufacturing Services contacted Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire based companies to assist with providing the funds, materials, and labour to achieve the installation of the life-saving device.
Sadly, the project took a devastating turn when Campbell unfortunately passed before the installation of the defibrillator was completed. It was thereafter agreed by the union of local businesses that the installation of the defibrillator should be dedicated in the memory of Campbell for his continuous hard work as a First Responder, a voluntary role he upheld for over a decade. A plaque depicting the life-saving work performed by Campbell is now fitted above the defibrillator.
The defibrillator is registered with the Ambulance Service and the access code can be obtained in an emergency by calling 999.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the other companies and personnel involved, as well as a special thank you to Ian Thompson for coordinating this project. This is a great example of how generosity and teamwork can save lives.
